Entry into the SES begins here and ECQs are our specialty: Partner with the most trusted writing team in the industry and the only ISO 9001:2008 registered and certified career management service in the WORLD.

ECQ (Executive Core Qualifications) are one of the most challenging requirements of an SES application. Our Senior Executive Writers are trained and skilled in developing Federal ECQ statements for the most highly technical executives from Scientists, Information Technology, Chief Financial Officers, Chief Information Officers, Chief Operating Officers and System Architects, to Military Colonels and Generals with careers spanning over two decades.  We have developed more ECQs and SES applications than any other career service. 85% of our clients earn interviews.

Our ECQs Crystallize Your Leadership Skills: The most important characteristic required in each ECQ is to provide content rich with examples that will crystallize your "Leadership" skills and demonstrate how they can contribute to building a federal corporate culture that drives for results, serves customers, and builds successful teams and coalitions within and outside the federal agencies.  You will not find a more experienced team of ECQ writers that are current with all federal agency development requirements and deliver a hard-hitting and interview winning set of ECQs.

Executive Core Qualifications must be written in a CCAR (Challenge, Content, Action and Result) formula and also must address the 28 competencies within the set of ECQs.  Writing ECQs is both an Art and Science. Our signature ECQ builders coupled with one-on-one career coaching by our Senior SES writers has led  our clients to receive OPM Certified ECQs that can be utilized for more than one SES application.

Executive Core Qualifications are required for entry to the Senior Executive Service (SES) and you must present a top notch ECQ package that will be accepted by the QRB (Quality Review Board) within each Federal agency and then receive approval from OPM.

OUR PROCESS:

Our experienced SES Writers work one-on-one with you to obtain all required information for each SES ECQ. We are accustomed to working with executives all over the world to develop SES applications via email, telephone consult and on-line builders. OPM states in their SES guide that you can expect to devote 80 or more hours to develop your ECQs. Most executives do not have the time to spare, or the immediate knowledge of all the fundamental technical requirements, to put together a strong ECQ package. Not an easy task, even for the most accomplished writer. We require up to eight hours of your time, as this is an interactive process, and at least 10 to 14 days to develop your entire application.

    To begin the process:
  1. Email or fax us a copy of your Federal vacancy announcement, along with your resume.
  2. An executive Career Coach will contact you within 24-hours of receipt to discuss qualification criteria, time-line, costs, and path forward.

This review is FREE and we will determine if we can indeed qualify you to become one of the next SES leaders within the Federal government.

In most cases, the Federal Government requires 5 ECQ statements
for SES positions:

  • Leading Change
  • Leading People
  • Results Driven
  • Business Acumen
  • Building Coalitions/Communications

Each statement is 1 to 1-1/2 pages long. In these statements, you must provide strong examples of direct leadership experience to show how you address each of these factors. Leadership is more important than "management" in this context. We will work with you to prepare these detailed statements and will develop appropriate narratives that follow the Federal Government model for each individual factor, as shown:

  • Challenge. Describe the specific problem or goal.
  • Context. Refer to the individuals and groups you worked with, and/or the environment in which you worked, and how you overcame a particular challenge (e.g., clients, co-workers, members of Congress, shrinking budget, low morale).
  • Action. Discuss the specific actions you took in addressing a challenge.
  • Result. Give specific examples of the results of your actions. These accomplishments demonstrate the quality and effectiveness of your leadership skills.
