Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English, with a master’s degree in International Business. He is also a military graduate of National Defense University.

He has served on active duty during both the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Shield. He retired as a Colonel and Deputy Commander of the Washington Air National Guard with decorations including the Meritorious Service Medal.

Michael has a diverse writing background in both the military and private sectors. With the Boeing company, he developed functional requirements and software test plans for the Boeing/USAF Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS). He also wrote and managed proposals for related intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems.

As a Boeing software project manager, Michael has hired many military members transitioning to the private sector. He understands how to translate their skills to civilian jobs. As a contract technical writer for Microsoft, he also understands the language of the commercial information technology industry.
